Artist’s Statement
As an artist I only create what I am interested in creating. Sometimes the work is objective and sometimes it is abstract or non-objective. Over the years I can see that my work has a consistency, but not in subject/content. My work is consistent in that it is not productive work; each piece is original and is different from all other works of mine. My work is also carefully done – nothing slap-dash. I only sign pieces that are finished to my satisfaction.
Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees emphasized the Fine Arts: B.A. Scripps College, M.F.A. Claremont Graduate University. I also took additional work in printmaking from Jack Duganne and Nick deMattis. I am a member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society and was its president for two years. For many years I was a member of the Art Faculty at Cal Poly University, Pomona, and exhibited widely in California. I still exhibit with Galeria Beretich in Claremont, CA. Since moving to Langley I have exhibited successively with Childer/Proctor, Gaskill/Olson and now Karlson/Gray. I have participated in the Artists’ Open Studio Tour for many years. Most recently in August, I was honored to be the Guest Printmaker at the Froggwell Gardens Invitational Exhibit.
