Faye Castle

Artist Statement

Faye studied art at the University of Washington, and received her BA in 1967. She followed that degree with a teaching certification, beginning a lifelong interplay between learning and teaching. She completed the Classical Animation Program at the Vancouver Film School in 1997 and taught figure drawing, color, design, and illustration classes for seven years at the Art Institute of Seattle.

A longtime student of color, light, and the vast potential for human expression, Faye Castle has been recognized as a distinguished Pastellist with the Northwest Pastel Society and is a member of Women Painter’s of Washington.

I love to draw and I love color. My sketchbooks allow me to play with lines and colors in a more informal way and come away with a wonderful record of memories and experiences. My sketchbox has traveled to Japan, Central America and Europe, but some of the best things are right here on Whidbey Island.
