Trisha Hensel
Artist’s Statement
Trisha Hensel, an elementary school teacher, began creating pottery in 1997 in her spare time. After teaching for many years, Trisha turned her focus to building functional, artistic pieces from slabs of clay. She has worked with many types of clay but has nurtured a creative passion for stoneware and for crafting pieces that are attractive and practical.
Stoneware clay is very durable. It provides a base for deep, intense colors. IT is fired to over 2250 degrees, which makes it ideal for Trisha’s beautifully functional creations.
All of Trisha’s designs are hand formed and hand glazed, which makes each piece truly unique. Her stoneware is safe for oven baking and serving food-yes, the pieces are all oven safe. The stoneware is also dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended.
Trisha Hensel lives in Walla Walla with her family.
